Here are a few freeware programs I use. You can download them right from this site. Arachnophilia Arachnophilia is a successor to WebThing, a popular HTML editor. This robust application can import and automatically convert RTF documents, tables, and outlines from any Windows 95-compliant application to HTML. It also supports up to six Web browsers, CGI, frames, Perl, C++, Java, and JavaScript development. Other features include a built-in, intelligent FTP client; automatic uploading of changed files; user-defined templates; user-customizable toolbars for quick access to frequently used tags; global search and replace; and a multiple-document interface with full drag-and-drop capabilities. In addition, Arachnophilia includes built-in tutorials on HTML development, JavaScript, frames, and the Internet. It's designed for more-advanced users but provides a host of helpful wizards for less-experienced Web authors. The wizards cover images, links, scripts, and tables. Other tools and features include tabbing of multiple open files, extended find/replace, hexadecimal color conversion, tag stripping, special characters palette, the ability to create a template from the current file, and more. We especially liked the quick-access link buttons to three frequently used Windows components -- Notepad, Calculator, and Windows Explorer. With its well-laid-out interface, helpful wizards, comprehensive documentation, and other handy functions, RCEdit should appeal to both newer and more-accomplished HTML coders. The suite includes a word processor, spreadsheets, a graphics editor, and a visual desktop. It also includes a visual file manager that lets you preview documents before you open them. The suite allows users to process several types of information, including text, numbers, pictures, mass fax/email communication, Web pages, and labels or bar codes. 602Pro PC Suite supports creation of templates with guides. It also offers a simple way of creating HTML documents, even if you don't have any knowledge of the language, and is designed to perform well, even on slower PCs. This version includes increased support for DOC/XLS and HTML documents, the added ability to password-protect documents, updated thumbnail-printing features, and a photo-album print option. In addition, it features drag-and-drop support, directory viewing, TWAIN support, slide shows, batch conversion, and modifications such as color depth, crop, blur, and sharpen. BMP,DIB,ICO, JPG, PCX, PNG, TGA, and TIF formats are supported. Now with image preview, cropping, watermarks, text annotation, improved image processing, color reduction, and support for image to icon conversion. Source images are choosen from the contents of a user selected directory. Processed as a group, selected images are converted according to user specified options: output filename prefix, output filename case conversion, output format, thumbnail size, image sharpening, brightness, contrast and gamma correction. Complex image manipulation is supported. Using a watermark, (actually a full color mask), and matte ( actually full color background) you can create vignette, frame, and compositing special effects. Select a file, a destination folder, and the size for each piece. Its default setting is to split the file into 1.44M pieces, but you can easily customize the setting. The job is completed quickly and a batch file is created in the same folder. You can use the batch file to reassemble the original file independently of the program.
